I have a line on a John Deere model FB 8' Seed Drill. This is a draw-bar drill, with a fertilizer bin, small-seed bin and with the agitator in the main seed bin.

I want to use this to plant Peredovik (Sunflower Seeds), Milo, Winter Oats and a mix of native Prairie Grasses. The latter are likely to be tiny, or fluff seeds.

Do you think $700 for this drill in fair condition would be a good price?

Do you think this drill would be fine for my purposes?

I hear that for native Prarie Grass seeds, folks recommend the Tye or Truax drills.

I bought an FB 13x7 single disk drill two years ago in excellent condition (still has 90% of its original paint and graphics) for $600. One in fair condition is worth half that. A double disk version may bring $400 in fair shape, $750 in excellent condition. Front and rear mount small seed boxes were available for the FB, but I don't know how well they work with fluffy seeds. Agitators were available for the grain box, which would help with the oats, but I'm not sure if an agitator was produced for the small seed boxes.
