Can anybody tell me about a Ford 532 baler--age, size/wt, type of bales, what might it be worth?

I just saw an ad for one and never heard of it, and am in the market for a small baler.
thanks,
Tom

You will find the 532 is not the most highly thought of bailer. They put out normal square bales that can be adjusted to fit your requirements. I like mine bales on the heavy side. I have a 532 and it has been all right. Mine was in very good shape and stored inside. I paid $450 for it 5 yrs ago in the middle of hay season. Most of the 532s Ive seen since have gone for less than $200 but they were in well used condition. Even if perfect the 532s tend to get stuck in soft areas because of the two narrow tires used. I put up about 2000 bales a year and I live with one knotter that misses one about 2% of the time. The knotters are a weak link in the machine I believe. If you consider the you are looking at be sure it is very good shape and be prepared for some tinkering. If the price is right and there is not much to choose from in your area it may fit your needs.

What part of the country are you in that balers
sell for $200 - $450? Here in E.Tenn that would buy scrap metal (knotters not included).

I'm from far western NY. Remember back when these balers were made NY was the nations 2nd largest dairy state. There are lot of small and some large dairies long gone since then. A case of a large supply and small demand today.
