Does anyone have any info on the Universal Pulley Co of Wichita KS? I have a 3 pt cement mixer made by this company a loooong time ago and I need to determine if they are still in business and offering parts for this rascal. Thanks.

The pto spindle is 1-1/8". I need to replace the part that slips over the pto shaft with one that will work with my 1-3/8" shaft. I could go with an adapter, but that pushes everything out another 4". The spindle assembly wouldn't bolt up to the rear of the tractor and it would mess up the geometry of the rest of the mixer. If the female pto part is available in the larger size it would save having it machined.

Mine is the same, but I have an oliver S55 it has a reversible pto shaft. One size on each end. I replaced the bearing that holds the roller with one from IH. If you disemble you might have a new coupler welded on.

I disassembled it. The coupler is held onto the shaft with a pin. The original pin is long gone and a cut off bolt was holding it together. The coupler itself has a hairline crack running from the edge of the bore to the retaining pin hole so even if I go with an adapter I'll need a new coupler before long. That's why I'd just rather get the right size coupler. I just don't know if I'll be able to find one or if I'll have to have a machinist build one ($$$). The original coupler is about 6 inches long with female pto shaft splines running for half the length and the remaining length having a round bore that fits on the shaft that turns in the bearing. Do you have any idea who might still be offering parts for this thing? I've tried various directory searches for Universal Pulley Co and for Wichita KS but no luck. I'm sure this place is either out of business or been long since bought out by someone else. I wish some old timer from Wichita who remembers what happened to this company would let me know. Meanwhile I'll start visiting machine shops to see who can do what. Thanks for trying.

CT Farm and Country (also Quality Farm and Fleet, Country General, County Post, and Fisco... choose yer poison) sells drive couplers for sprayer pumps that couple to 540 RPM 1 3/8" shafts and have keyed bores for round shafts in various sizes. If your shaft is not keyed, you could easily drill a hole for a pin in these things. They're not real rugged, but maybe worth a shot.

I agree with above post. c/t also has outer pto sleves with splines all the way trough.I would do the job myself. I did find that hamilton equipment sold this mixer to my father. thier 1962 catolog lists the address as universal pullys co,inc, 330 north mosley wichita, kansas. hamilton equipment, inc lemon&pointview avenues ephrata, pennsylvania

Thanks Dan & Larry. This sounds promising. I have a CT/Quality book in my possession. I will also hit Wichita Directory assistance now that I have an address and see if they still exist. May even contact Hamilton Equipment in PA just for grins. Might get that patio done yet!
