Well, I am asking what is the simplest way to replace the ram bearing? I have been studying on it for a day and a half while redoing the runners and shims.
I don't see an easy way without messing with the timing overall. Am I missing something?

I rebuilt mine a few years ago. I must have done it wrong because it worked the first time I tried it and hasn't missed since I did it. I cleared the chamber, removed the bail tension angles behind it, removed the two bolts at the pitman and my son and I pushed and pulled the plunger out the back. removed the tracks and rollers, installed the replacements, cursed and shoved and pulled the plunger back into place, torqued everything back up to standard specs, ran a few bails of hay through it and put it back out in the field. I know I did something wrong as everything worked without a hitch. Now for the real advice. Find a manual, (if you can) hope this helps.

You can and should check and set the timing anyway. A little mis timing wipes out the needles in one stroke.
