Looking at possibly trading in my JD 1360, it is 16 years old now and just thinking ahead. Dealer has a option for a Krone mower with a 10',2" or a 8'8" cut with the impeller conditioner which I have on the Deere. Never even seen anyone with Krone equipment, they advertise alot in the hay and forage grower.

Hayray, for what it is worth I have been running a Krone AM243S Disc cutter that I bought used. This cutter is approx 8/0 and does a great job. Only thing is the darned metric nuts and bolts. I also have a very good Dealer not too far away that knows his stuff and keeps lots of parts. Unless this cutter was seriously abused I could see it lasting upwards of 25 years provided it is kept well maintained. Anyway, my two cents. Good Luck!

Got an AM322 been pretty good cutter. Some of the parts are real high, but other times some are pretty reasonable.
I would go with the largest cut your tractor can handle. With way diesel prices are going I would want the largest cut I could have to save running time cutting.

We have had a Krone 280cv trailed mower conditioner for years, very good mower, only one thing, spare parts are cheaper from John Deere than the Krone dealer, but the initial cost was cheaper to buy a Krone than a J.D. which was the same mower painted J.D.green! By the way Krone also supply JD with some of their round bailers.

There may be some vast differences in the product lines between here and NZ.... because I don't think the Krone has ever had anything to do with Deere discbines or balers in North America. At one time Deere sourced the cutterbars for their discbines from Kuhn, and I buy many of my parts from Kuhn dealers now because they're a good deal cheaper.
I do know that most manufacturers have different product lines completly for you fellas compared to what we have even though they use the same model numbers on some of them, so look carefully at that....

I don't believe that I've ever seen a Krone mower in these parts so I don't know much about them. Wouldn't be fair for me to comment, other than to say that Kuhn is my preference.

Yes, like most other manufacturers Krone use the Kuhn cutterbar, the Kuhn is also a very good mower. We don't get many products specificaly for N.Z.- the market is simply not big enough, there are only 4 million people here. I work for a J.D. dealer as a senior technician, our tractors are mosly Manhiem built 6*30 series, any thing bigger comes from the States, one or two detail differences in spec, but we get the same product as the rest of the world, like I said, thre just are not the sales here to justify a NZ spec. The mower we got was the same as a JD 1350, the Krone dealer just gave us more for our old Kuhn.

So you don't get any of the OZ spec stuff? That's really what I had in mind. I know from looking at some of NewHolland's stuff in Austrailia that it's a fairly different spec to what we see, although I suppose their needs are quite different to yours...
Krone is not something that has a particularly good name in these parts, probably for the simple reason that dealer support was sporadic and not all that great. Seems that all that stuff that was around is basically orphaned, even if it is good equipment.

We do get some aussie speced equipment, but our climate and smaller farms makes European spec equipment more suitable. If your Krone dealer network is not reliable, don't get one, as good as they may be, every mower can hit a rock, and then you need the parts and service back up fast.
