Several months ago I made a promise to SGT BULL to put a PTO shield on my 'working' #5 mower before using it this hay season.

Cleaned up one of the PTO shields that was uglier than my step mother and installed it.

Also cleaned up a foot lever and installed it on 'Easy' my 46A.

Got a good workout on my left leg lifting the mower and on my right leg turning the tractor.

Been waiting 6 months for all this fun!

You deserve to be very proud of your preservation project, it's a fine,"safe" piece of art! Congrats.

Considering the amount of work James put into refurbishing that mower and that we have other #5 mowers to use, there wasn"t any reason to use this one. He took it completely apart, except for the gear box, cleaned, wire brushed, replaced what needed to be replaced, primed, painted and re-assembled. It is "field ready" and runs quietly, no knocks, grinds, squeals or strange noises, just the normal "chatter" a sickle mower makes. And yes, he did a great job on both the mower and the tractor.

Thanks for the compliment Gary.

If you like the 'working' mower, you will like the one below even better.

After I finished with it, Nancy would not let me use it.

She said it is too 'pretty' to use.
