Plant Peas with a JD 1240 Corn Planter?

Does anyone know if it is possible to plant purple hulled peas or black eyed peas (you northerners may not know what these are) with a John Deere 1240 corn planter? I'm not sure what to use to plant peas.

If you can come up with a plate that will fit half way decent, then the 1240 will work great. Grandpa used a 494A and then a 1240 to plant peas. Not sure what plate he used.

Is yours the plate type planter? If it is the special John Deere Plate book will tell you what plate to use for them. If the planter is plateless then I do not know about them.

I should have added that that plate book lists several hundred different plates for the plate planters and for each it cives size of cell, type of cell and what the plate is designed for. from 4 cell to 60 cell plates.

I set my 1250 same as for soybeans and had decent luck
