another drill question

My neighbor loaned me an older IH drill to seed some oats with. My ol Oliver's gearboxes are froze up. Anyway, under the lid is an application chart that is in quarts per acre. I an wanting to put on about 90# of oat seed. Do I just weigh a quart of the seed and then convert it to quarts? Or is there another way to convert quarts per acre to pounds per acre?? Thanks Steve

If oats weigh 32 pounds per bushel then 90 pounds equal 2.8125 bushel per acre. If there are 32 quarts in a bushel you need 90 quarts per acre. At least that is what the charts I have in front of me are suggesting. But I don't plant oats so someone better double check my figures.

The first time I looked at the IH drill charts, it also "threw me for a loop" with the sowing rate data shown in quarts/acre. Expected bu or lbs/acre. Just had to get out the charts and calculate as you have done.
