What to do once plunger is out???

Ive got a massey 12 baler that i pulled the plunger on. Didnt loosen rails or mess with shims at all. It wasnt rusted in too bad just enough to where the flywheel wouldnt turn. Clean up the rails real good, coat with grease and put the plunger back in??? What do I do now? Thanks Guys!

Hi all! I have a model 12 that I am getting up and running.
I got it and had a guy work on it and had a problem with banana bales.
I'm new to baling and know little about this massey.
I got the service manual and the operator's manual recently.My plunger was stuck real good when I got it and am in the process of rebuilding it with another massey for parts.
Mine is out and I have cleaned up the rust. I am now re-shimming. My question is this- I don't recollect seeing where to use grease and what kind of grease on the runners.
I thought that you couldn't use grease as it would contaminate the hay. Spray on graphite maybe?

Well,looking at what I posted, I may not have been as clear as I wished to be.

At this point I have found out that my ram knife was bent inward near the bottom. I think someone who had it before me must have caught a rock,t-post or large stick.
I have sharpened both knives and shimmed them square. I think this was the reason for banana bales.
I am taking parts off of a junked massey. I put the best ram bumpers,rails and shims between the two of them and put them on my good baler after a thorough cleaning.
I am still curious to know about the greasing part. I will need to replace the bearing where the ram pushbar attaches to the gearbox. I took off the snap ring. I don't know the best way to get it off to replace it. Thanks,all ahead of time!

I have a Massey#10, we left a wet bale in the chamber..had one heck of a time getting the plunger to move, finally it moved, cleaned out the chamber and went to the field where the hay was just right and started baling, after a 100 or so bales I put some grease on the rails and then continued baling

Reid, if all the rest is ready, the guys are right run something through it. Get a couple,3-4 bales of straw feed them thru CAREFULLY, take from the chute feed them thru again and again. Straw is drier and more abrasive and will clean rust in bale chamber. Be very careful, but this way you can check operation before you need it to work.
