JD 894A rake parts

I just bought an 894A rake at an auction. It has a lot of new parts on it and good teeth. I do need a few parts for it. The smaller half of the cast clamp that bolts through the arch and connects it to the adjusting crank is the most urgent thing. This and all parts for this machine come up obsolete in the dealer's book. Does anybody have the part or know who would have one for sale?

My neighbor has run one for 25 years with no problem. Sounds like they have worked for other people.

Have fun with that knot-maker. Twists up the hay into one long rope if your hay is taller than 3 feet.

I sold mine because it was a piece of crap. The delivery is too far perpendicular to the row of hay, almost like a giant box blade behind you.

Could be true, but I've never allowed hay to get over 3 ft tall before cutting it. The operator's manual to adjust the front tilt of the basket if roping occurs or the windrow is too tight. Never had the problem with the current seup as received, so haven't investigated further. Do wish the rear/drive axle was parallel to the basket rather than perpendicular to the travel direction. This would reduce teeth dragging on uneven ground. Not really a concern on level ground.

oh yeah, i did forget that was my principal reason for getting rid of it, the slightest hill got it stuck.

Sorry about that.. this here is the real reason why i got rid of it.

yeah I cut hay about 2 and a half feet tall, just before it goes yellow.

I unintentially bought a 896A several years ago at a large auction because my daughter was cold and it was taking forever to get to the rakes I intended to place bids/buy. To demonstrate that we hadn't really come to just look and to cheer her up, I made a bid expecting to lose on a nice four bar 896A. That was the third bid placed and was enough to buy it. Really wanted a five bar and the parts man at the local JD dealer located a wrecking yard somewhere out west of the Mississippi that carried a lot of old hay equipment. Bought the fifth bar and a few other odds and ends for less than half JD retail. Therefore I suggest going to a good JD dealer whom is willing to look for salvage parts.
