A buddy from work just gave me an old Ferguson two bottom plow, but it appears to be missing the shares, I think. I don't know exactly what they're called, but they mount down at the bottom of each plow and actually do the digging. Does anyone know where I could find a new set?

Would this be a three-point plow that would go behind a Ford 9N for example. If it is, ive seen this plows sell for between $250 and $500 dollars original unpainted. You have some money sitting there

I have an old ferguson 2-12 plow that I had quite a time finding plow shares for. I jumped on this same discussion forum and got hooked up with a ford/new holland dealer in Pennsylvania just north of Harrisburg. They stock steel plow shares to replace the cast ones that were original equipment. They are not cheap but if you are into restoring it, they may be able to help you. Mine works fine now. The name of the dealer is Sweigard Brothers. 717-896-3414

hope this helps!

If it's like the one we have, you probably can't get them.... These are a triangular shaped cast iron point rather than a share. There were different body configuerations available, but this one is flat out obsolete.
I don't know the model number on mine but the plow is a 2x10 Ferguson-Sherman.
Post a pic of the bottom and the bolt holes. Someone may recognize it.

You have what is known as a Scotch bottom and that bottom was used by different plow makers including Cockshutt, I don't know about avaibility as I have only seen in my 64 years maybe about a half dozen plows with them on. And it is a sod bottom and not a general purpose type bottom.

We have two plows with those bottoms. One was a David Brown 3x12 and this Ferguson-Sherman 2x10. Parts were common between them and equally unavailable from any source I checked into 15 years ago when we needed them.
How rare this bottom is, I don't know... but it is certainly a sod bottom.

I went out and checked the data plate on the plow frame. It's a Number 2547, Type 14A.

Does that help any?

That would help a dealer but you still need the numbers off the share, moldboard and landside.
