I still use the old dickey john monitor with my IH planter. One of the orange bulb covers fell out and I called factory and they said they have not had them avail. for 20 yrs. They do have the snap on type but mine is older and uses a screw on type. The monitor still works fine without the cover but it is really annoying to have that bare bulb flashing in my vision all day. It really stands out among the other 5 orange ones. I bet one of you has an old monitor like that sitting on a shelf in the back of the shed. If you want to part with one of those bulb covers please give me a call. 507-947-3922 I will make it worth your while. It has to be the screw on type lense. Thanks for checking. Greg.

I keep a shop towel on top of the monitor- held on by a couple of magnets. Daytime- I uncover the lights,- at night, I lower the towel, can still see the glow if a light comes on...does not ruin the night vision. Old Special Forces Army trick- takes up to twenty minutes to recover from a brighter light and recover night vision. The lights are on twice at each end of the field, after raising, and then lowering the planter. No need for that- just need to know what is working. Also plugged the alarm with duct seal- don"t need the noise either, inside a cab.

I'm pretty sure the shaft speed monitors on the 3300 4400 6600 & 7700 John Deere combines used them too.

Shoup (www.shoupparts.com) has a snap in for JD/DJ monitors. SH32207 for $1.40. I think the snaps fit the threads OK.

As an alternative, auto parts stores used to carry an amber paint for turnsignal lamps, that might cover your bare lamp.
