I have more experience with stuck MF baler plungers than I ever intended to have. There are shims that adjust the plunger for up/down play, and they tend to rust and swell. Loosen all the locking bolts along the top and bottom of the chute. Loosen the adjusting bolts that stick out the side of the chute housing. If you've lived a good life, that will allow the plunger to move. For those of us who didn't live a clean enough life, disconnect the plunger rod from the crank, crawl up the rear end of the chute, run a chain through the plunger, put a 6x6 or some such across the end of the chute, and use a come-along to pull the plunger out. Remove the runners from inside the chute, clean everything up, put it back together, and adjust the knives. Good luck!

Check the plunger sounds like it may be the culprit.Probably on the bottom side.
