Can anyone help identify my new (old) corn planter. The PIC is not my planter but a PIC someone (Charlie) sent me of his planter after I tried to describe mine for him . I am also confused between the relationship of IH - McCormick/Deering - Case as far as planters go, since the one's I've looked at look the same . If anyone can clear that up for me I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Alan

The planter in the photo looks like a McCormick-Deering No. 102 planter with a factory tractor hitch. It appears that the check wire heads, check wire reel, and row markers are missing. McCormick -Deering was a trade name used on machinery built by International Harvester from in the early 1920s until about 1947, when Deering was dropped and only McCormick was used. At this time Case had nothing to do with IH, although all corn planters of the era looked similar.

GEEZ that looks familiar. That is the 2 row corn planter at my house. I'm giving Charlie it since Mrs. Red wants it out of there. It is an unknown model of the early 1940s. I think it was modified somewhere along the line.
