Hi, I found a NH 469 mo-co about an hour from where I live for $700. The owner says that there is a 2" chunk of rubber missing on one of the rollers. He says he thinks something went thru it like a stone. It hasnt gotten any worse in the past two years. Should this be something to worry about? Are the rollers expensive? I've seen adds for refurbishing rubber rollers and others for steel relacement. Would this be a deal breaker even if the rest of the machine might be in reasonably good condition? Thanks , Neal

Went and looked at this unit yesterday. Top roll has the spot as mentioned, along with alot of thin spots and places that have fine cracks that look like an old dry rotted sidewall of a tire. Bottom roll looks really good. (Seems damage to top roll might be from exposure to the sun). Some other things that caught my attention were the missing hydraulic cylinder and hoses. I'm not sure what that will cost to replace, but I'm sure that will be at least $200+. Other minor items were the tensioner pulley on the right side was way out of alignment, and the owner added a "homemade" chain tensioner on the same side instead of replacing the chain. It does have the long guards and bolt on sections for the sicklebar.Sheet metal looks OK, right side cover is missing. Everything else appeared to be in pretty good condition. What do you think its worth? He's asking $700. Thanks Neal

I guess it depends on how hard you're going to use it. Mine fits exactly what you describe, and I've used it for the past five years to do about 40 acres averaging 3-4 cuttings per year of timothy and mixed grass. Cost me $300 for the machine, and no more rubber has stripped from the rollers. It suits my needs, and has paid for itself a couple of times by now.

Replacing the rollers with new rubber ones is about $1500, plus bearings, if you do the work yourself. I've heard of places that can re-cover rollers, but don't know the price. If the wobble box bearings are good, and the gearbox bearings and seals are good, and you don't make your living making hay, it sounds like a pretty good deal, especially if you can make a lowball offer and get it for less.
