If I'm in the wrong discussion board, send me packing, but I'm interested in some information about Case IH 8455 round balers. Dealers tell me that these balers cannot be converted to net wrap. Is that true? Does anyone know of someone who might have tried it and succeeded? Thanks very much for any information that you might have.

i dug out my manual this morning. there is a section on extra equipment in the back, and sure enough it shows net wrap as an option. it states that it uses the twine needles as a timing devise. the hopper for the net wrap is across the back of the baler. so it is available, although the expense might make trading balers a more resonable option, just don't know

Thanks for the information. I, too, have always thought it was an option, but I have had two dealers tell me that you must choose the option when you buy the baler. Adding it later is "not possible" they say. I'm sure it would be expensive, but much less than the $30k it would take to get a new baler.

i've got a '96 model 8455. it's twine but i think i recall reading in the manual about the net wrap option. i'll check and get back to you. i do know that the monitor has the net wrap functions on it, although that monitor could be used with several balers i suppose.
