I have a JD 3020 and was wondering if I can use a John Deere Model 39 sickle bar mower with this tractor. Would I need to be concerned about whether the model is 39 narrow or 39 wide? Thanks for your assistance.

I use a 39 it must be a wide on an 856 "cause it works good with the wheels out past where they would be for 40 inch rows. I also have an 8 or 9 three point mower non wide and it works ok with the wheels set for 38 inch rows. Good mowers mowed many, many acres with a 39. Lee

The wide is for tractors that had the wheels set out for cultivating 40" corn rows so center to center of tread was at 80" and if you do not have wheels set for cultivating then the standard as well as the wide should work.
