we just traded our 489 on a new 1411 discbine, about 20 yrs. old, it was in working order, but had seen its days. 20 plus years on our farm since new....We got 3000.00 on trade. 4k for that ought to be pretty good, but id look at a disk bine, so much nicer, cant wait to use ours, been walking by it in shop for 3 months, if the hay would only grow faster.....good luck. If it looks like it was looked after, jump on it, supposing it's not stolen or otherwise of dubious title. I'm not right up on haybine prices but I'd think it would be closer to the 7-9 range here for something like that if it's nice... It' cheap enough to make me question it.

Sounds like a great deal. Last fall I saw a 488 that was beat up and had been stored outside go for $5200. I was looking for a used one in the fall but everything I saw had been stored outside or abused. Ended up buying a new one. Cant wait to try it out!
