I am installing the non clog guards on my jd 1219
haybine.
Do i cut one point guard in half and intsall on each end.
And on the drive end do i leave the first 2 top plates off. And leave the wear plates out on the first three guards?
Thanks for the help.

To adjust the holddowns, use a folded dollar bill for a feeler gauge. Then run in crop. If you see any hairpinning the clearance is to great and you need to tighten down. DON'T tighten so tight they smoke or turn blue.

On my 1219 I used the regular (not the non-clog) guards cut in half for the ends. Wore out a couple of saw blades though as the metal is very hard.

Yes, leave the wear plates out on the first three or you will break the knife head. It has to go fore and aft as it goes left and right.

I don't remember about the half guard. Does the Operators Manual say?
