tried to bale a few bales yesterday and the old 530 is slipping right behind the pto shaft, in front of the fly wheel. maybe called a clutch
hub? any way to fix this? find a used one?do they make new ones? also i have a parts 530 but the hub is welded so it can not clip at all. would this hurt anything?
maybe called roller hub?

i looked at new holland website, and they show a rollar clutch inside the hub. # 16H7675
do they still make parts for this or the whole hub?

Follow the item number through the listing. If it's shown as NLA then it's not available. Otherwise it should be available....
You would want to inspect it carefully to see what you need. It could be as simple as a spring or as bad as a complete hub.

I've got two questions.
#1 how do you know the flywheel weights 200 lbs?
#2 what crime did JD commit?
Just curious,Jim

Jim,
1. Wild guess. Mabey it's 400....

2. Deere committed many 'crimes' that involved corrupting the designs of many other manufacturers and calling it their own...

All joking aside, I don't think too many Deere fans would call early Deere round balers theirs, or anyones best effort. They have someting of a reputation for being quite useless around these parts... and generally not of the same caliber of other balers of their time.

this is the one that just went out.
the clutches are not slipping, just what ever is in this hub. the shaft still turns thats on the pto yoke, some kind of dogs or somthing broke or wore out inside. i dont think it comes apart
do they?

also will it hurt any thing to use the welded one on top.

There is a big snapring that you have to take loose, then the yoke part pulls out of the hub if I remember right. Then inside the hub is a cam bearing. You have to by that cam assembly in one piece. The old one is probally ground to bits anyway. Hope this helps.

The pieces went in there, so logic would dictate that there is a way to take them out.
I don't remember how since it's a long time since I looked at mine.
You could go to newholland.com/na and go into the parts section, search for parts, and stick the baler model number in. Follow down through the parts listings to get the exploded diagrams and it should show how it goes together.
There is an outside possibility that they did weld the guts into that ORC, but I have my doubts....

That hub goes bad from time to timt too. The internal splines wear out on it, I've gone through three. New ones are available, but they are pretty pricey. I'd check salvage yards, I've allways been able to find a used one. Take it apart first and make sure it's not just the discs. Also ckeck the over running clutch. It's available new also. good luck

There is a 2 disc SLIP clutch or torque limiter in there. I think you'll find that it's actual components are common to any 35 series slip clutch and can be ordered through weasler if you check the sizes.
The last time I replaced the discs in my 532, they came from NH, and were not all that expensive as I recall.....
There is also an ORC built into that hub, but it would be somewhat unusual for that to go to pieces. Take a look at it but I'd expect the slip clutch to be the problem.... and change the bolts while you're in there??

I'm not familiar with your model baler but if it's a sq. baler I think what is slipping is the over-running clutch. The sq. balers I've used have them to save wearing out pto brake on tractor and let baler coast to a stop.

530 is a JD 5x6 roller from the 80's. That is a standard slip clutch. Not surprised he is having difficulties with it as it appears to have served it's master well..... ..... ..

Deere may have committed that crime, but I'll assume that the 200 pound flywheel on this one is attached to a Ford square baler.....
