I got a set of Keaton seed firmers for my White 5100 planter and was going to put them on yesterday. Instructions say to cut off a triangle shaped piece from rear of the opener frame for it to fit. The piece they want me to cut off hold the inside scraper for the openers. Anyone ever do this, looks to me like you need the scrapers on there? Think maybe I'd be better off the return the seed firmers. Chris

Personally I have put them on the Kinzes and great plains and old deere units for customers. have seem them after seasons use, what a joke. If It were my unit I would not spend the money or time for them. Its just like the big deal over using disc versus field cultivator in the spring, when the corn is couple inches tall can you tell me what tillage implement was used. So much stuff is sold on fads its crazy. O r the neighbor has it now. Leave them in the box is what I would do. Good Luck

I'll agree with Gary on this one. I had them on a JD 7000 and I took them back off. For all of the reasons he stated plus if you no till, moist soil builds up on them and they get about 3 times as wide and probably make emergence worse. Lee

Chris I had Keaton firmers on a Kinze planter.

I did NOT like them. They fell off, they would tear off when you backed up, they would twist out of alignment and didn't seem to help the stand any.

If they were that great the manufacturer of the planter would put them on.

Just my opinion, Gary
