I looked at a 640 corn planter for sale this week. Asking price was 500.00. I'm not familiar with these planters. It has two fans that blow air to the row units. It also had a monitor. It was in rough shape and I am concerned about parts availibility. Any advice would be a big help.

Thanks Frank for the info. The pads are there but they look a little rough. The wiring for the monitor and air fans have a few splices in it. One fertilizer box is cracked and the feed auger is missing. The seller does have the owners manual with setup info. I thought about the possibility of changing the ferlizer boxs to John deeres with a little fabrication. I would like to hear from someone who has had success with one of these units. This planter is cheap but would spending more on a John deere be worth it.

The MF640 planter is just a AC 770 corn planter. Massey bought it from Allis so parts aren't a big problem. I'm looking at a 640 now with no-till, liquid fert, and population monitor for the same money. Before you buy take off the seed disc and there is a foam pad under the disc make sure it is in good shape as they are expensive to replace. Frank
