Can anyone tell me what colors Dearborn used on their equipment? I've got a 16-4 Single row corn picker that appears to be somewhat of an off-red, almost orange. Then I've got a set of Dearborn 2-12" that are nothing but surface rust and have no idea what the color scheme was. Any suggestions or ideas would be great. I'd rather buy something that's already a pre-mixed color, such as the stuff "Tough $hit Charlie" (Tractor Supply Co.) sells.

Thanks everyone, I've got a 16-4 Dearborn picker which looks kinda orangish. But what I'm getting ready to paint is a set of Dearborn 2 bottom plows. I just finished up plowing 3-4 acres and have them all nice a clean, they had been laying outside for about 30+ years at my farmer neighbors. They are actually in very good condition and does a fine job for me. They appear to still have some grey up inside the top link support structure. But I'm going for the Massey Ferguson red I think. Thanks!!! That answered alot, especially when I get ready to work on this picker.

if you can find out the year of implement it would have been painted same color as the Ford tractor of that year...99% of the original Dearborn stuff i've seen was Vermillion Red.

Hey Trail Boss-
ALL Dearborn Equipment implements were painted the Ford 8N Red or "Vermilion". How close to original you want to be is usually a personal preferance. Most paints out there listed as FORD TRACTOR RED are usually too much on the orange side for my tastes. I go with the TISCO brand IH-RED which in my opinion comes very close to original than their Vermilion or New Holland reds. SOme say the Rustoleum SUnrise Red works too but I have trie dit and to me it still has a hint of orange...your stuff paint any color you like (except green and yellow).

Implements bought & used back with the 9ns were grey . Implements bought & used after the 8ns were built were red . Some guys like blue so dealers painted them blue so to sell them . I used to spend time at a Ford tractor dealers place with my Dad in the 50s - 60s whenever he'd take his tractors there for service & repairs under warranty . He also would go & help the dealer whenever he'd get overloaded with tractor repairs . So I went with him as often as I could . HTH ! God bless, Ken

The color was referred to as "vermillion," I believe. It is quite close to a Massey-Ferguson red. The "Ford" red that is available at many farm supply stores is pretty close to the original Dearborn color, in my estimation.
