> I can currently use the two remote on back of tractor to lift and close gate. Just so we are sure we are talking the same thing..... . Are you saying you have 2 hoses in back, one hand lever, to lift & lower the baler gate? You do not have 'two remotes' which would imply 2 levers and able to control 2 different things? You have a 2-way remote with 2 ports now, not '2 remotes'. If I understand correctly? No one has really addressed your single vs 2-way hyd question.
Many 2-way (power up and power down) controls have a setscrew or thumbscrew or other way to allow using single-operating hydraulics. It is possible to hook up a single operating hyd cylinder to a 2-way valve; the oil will flow back the one hose on it's own, but the hyd pump will be pushing oil for the other line past the bypass (pressure relief) valve which does add a little wear to things. No big deal on a low-use item. It is pretty simple to add in another 1 or 2 hyd control levers and do what you want to do. Likely cost you $300 - 600 each. You need to match up the new hardware to the old hardware. The open center or closed center issue - you will need to know this, 2 different systems, use different parts. Open center needs to use a power-beyond port which may be on your current controls. A closed center hyd you often Tee into a line somewhere. The valves themselves are different. You get bad results if you mix & match..... ;)
Closed center the pump always puts out max pressure all the time but does not curculate any oil until you demand it. When you move a lever it allows fluid in. Open center the pump always curculates the same amount of fluid, but at almost no pressure. When you move a lever it blocks off the flow, and builds up pressure in your cyclinder. This is the older, or simpler, or cheaper system perhaps. Nothing wrong with it at all. Surplus Center will likely be able to help you out, they are on line. Sell all sorts of hyd stuff. The electric selector valves are good, but cost about as much. Less fuss & plumbing done to your tractor, just plug in & run a wire... Depends what you want to do as to which is 'better'. Also don't know for sure how they handle single-acting cylinder. --->Paul
