I was wondering if someone could help me out. I am looking for a set of plows for my JD 620, and I have a few sets that I am looking at. I am looking at a set of IH 16, set of JD full mounted 4-16 and a set of JD 620 3-16. Wondering if anyone could tell me what they thought would work better for that tractor.

Thanks

4-16s is too much plow for the tractor in our soil.
Clay loam. Would probably be OK in more sandy loam, but we need a full 15+ HP per bottom. 3-14s and maybe 3-16s are just right for the 620.

The 16" plow size will not give you near as much trouble in corn ground..

4X14" or 3-16" is a good match for the 620/630..

I like the semi-mounted 4-14"..it looks "right" on it...! I have a 4X16 F-145 and my 630 will pull it nicely here in central Ohio, but in a combination of alfalfa and Jack-Wax, it is "ALL it can handle"... 2nd gear in the 620/630 is faster than the 720..about 2.66 mph as opposed to 2.25mph in the 720.. I would think you could pull a 4X14" in 2nd AND Third.. I found that the 3 bottom 14" JD plow was not enough plow to stay down, when the load-depth control kicks in..it raises the plow about 3" every time, unless you set the top link in the top hole of the powertrol...then you get NO weight transfer at all.. Hope this helps...!!

As far as Pull-Type plows, they are fine, but there are always those times you want to back up or turn really sharp, and you will find those times are when the mounted plow really makes the difference... Plowing off the ends means backing over plowed ground, to get to the corners and that sure is harder with a pull-type plow..! If you get a 4x14" or 3x16" mounted plow, be sure to get a depth (Gauge) wheel, especially if it would be semi-mounted.. Your 620 will hardly know there is a plow on it if it is only a 3x14"..but because of RPM limits, you will still need to stay in 3rd at the most, and that will be running at just above an idle, or you will be plowing too fast..actually laboring the engine, because you don't have enough plow on it...! Either will work, get the one you want..the tractor will handle them just fine..

Thanks

3-16 would work very well on a 620. we ran one for years on side hills. great combo.

Had a 620 with a full mounted 4-14,can be done, takes a "lot" of front weights and your still gonna call the tractor Silver and yourself the Lone Ranger in good hard gumbo. It's actually kinda fun but could be somewhat dangerous.

Full mounted you do not have enough hydrolics to lift or if you could lift it could not get the front tires back on the ground
