Would you tell me what I need to know about a New Idea Model 323 picker. It is a 1 row pull type. When made and is it a snapper or a husker? It is at an auction that is coming up in a couple of weeks so I just wanted to know what to expect. Thanks. Tom

323 is a one row with a husking bed. Years were approximately 1965-1982. Things to look for--the rubber stars over the husker are still available but expensive, so if they are brittle or broken, bid accordingly. If the snouts are beat up, it could mean some damage was done underneath them as well, like gathering chain idlers and mounts. Check under there. Look for play in the snapper gearbox shafts, leaking oil, etc. There"s a shop in Pennsylvania (I have a reference to it on the corn picker website) that can supply new or rebuild a lot of parts on these pickers.
