From what I see here in MI, 2 row planters are a VERY HOT comidity. Seems the food plot / hobby farmer are putting a high demand for them in any condition. There are (2) 2 row Ford 309 for sale I know of and they want $650 for each and they are junk. JD 2 rows are about the same or a little more. Last year I saw a nice Ford 309 with markers sell for $1200 at a consignment aucton. I got lucky and found mine in the local paper for $400.

There's a two-row 246 on ebay going for over $400 and there's still three days left. It's very close to where I live. Rats! Out of my price range. Lots of local auctions coming up in the next few weeks. Maybe I'll have better luck there. After reading other posts, I won't hold my breath. Maybe I can buy an over-the-shoulder seed bag and hand plant.

I saw a homemade 2-row sell at a consignment auction a month ago for about $475. Someone had made a 3-point hitch, and attached two IH ground-drive units to it. I had hoped to find an IH 56 series 2 row, but all seem to be hopelessly far away, and too expensive. So, I made my own from a surplus 4-row IH 56 planter by cutting it down.

Brown co fairgrounds????? If so, howdy neighbor. :)

I was watching it too. Years ago I got my bean bar - 15 of the 295 units - for $250 total.

I agree and am guilty. I'm looking for a two-row planter for food plots. Based on prices, I may end up getting an Earthway walk-behind for the little bit I need to plant. Last year I rigged a peanut-butter jar "shaker" for milo and planted the corn by hand. A very slow process. Lost most of it to drought. It's driving up cost of smaller tractors and other implements as well.

Saw an older IH 2 row going for 1200 last year.
I think it's a combination of folks with 5 acres looking to do more than mow lawns and the guys putting in deer plots.
