I have put row markers on my 4 row planter. I need help in setting them for the row spacings. I have a 4 row planter set at 36" row. Does anyone know how I should set his up? Should I use the marker for the front wheel or middle of tractor. Thanks for any help.

We had a metal rod attached to the front of the tractor that we set to be right over the marker. This was easy to see and set up.

I converted a 4 row wide JD 7000 to narrow. The markers are too long to mark tractor center, converted or not. So I mark the far front wheel. Its perfect, I can see it very easily, no parallix, put the center rib in the marker track and the guess rows are perfect. I planted 4 row and the combine picked 6 row and only in a couple places could the guess row be seen (and then it was really bad).

One more thing to add to all the good advice is do not run the nose of your tractor or the "hood ornament" on your mark but rather keep the mark running right between your legs irregardless of where front of tractor is running. This is because if on a slight land slope the tractor and planter will drift a little bit.

Yep,

What Gary said.

You'll have to "re-adjust to you". People "eye the mark" differently and sit the seat different.

Make a couple of rounds then get off and measure your guess row.

Middle of tractor.

With the makers in the down position, they should measure 90" from your outside row to the disc on the marker.

You may have to reset in the field when you can measure from center of row to center of row.

Everyone sets a little different in the seat and has a different dominant eye. That's if you want perfectly spaced rows.(:~})
