Can a 246 plant other seeds, like milo, buckwheat or sunflowers? Are the plates hard to find? I'm mainly doing food plots. What's a reasonable price for a 246 in good working order?

The 246 (246/247) use the same typbe B plates as just about every other Deere plate planter. Lincoln AG will have them for most anything you wish to plant. Type B plates are all over EBAY too. Usually $3 to $5 each average, with some of the specialty plates (milo, sunflowers, ect) going a little bit higher. They were good planters in their day. Getting a little long in the tooth now, so it"s all about what sort of condition it"s in as to how good of a planter they are now.

Just a few years ago, you could find "em everywhere for $300 to $400 in good shape. Now it"s not uncommon to see them for $750 to $1000.
