Good mower? I think I could put a roll in it and have it field ready for under 2500.00 Good or bad deal?

I think you'd be better off sticking two rolls in it or having these ones recovered. One buggered roll will bugger another roll, so I'd expect the top one is poor now which will lead the the failure of a new bottom roll...

Otherwise check the deck out to make sure that all the bearings in the discs are tight and I'd pull a module set and see if there's actually oil in the bar, if I could. Also look at the skid shoes and see that those are tight and not beat to pieces and their brackets broken. I've found mine to be an OK mower but I think the flotation system leaves something to be desired. Personally, if I was looking for another one I'd just go buy the Kuhn FC300 that this Deere is based on. You'll also want to get familiar with Kuhn for bar parts because they're about 20% (or more) cheaper than Deere. Always keep a spare module on hand... They shear by design if they hit anything, and that's about a 350 buck change.

You could check in with Mel @Circle C Equipment. They have from what I hear the best by far design on roll conditioning systems. They will take your old rolls and recondition them with their design for about $2500. If you want the complete system its around 10-12 grand, but its worth looking into honestly if you are serious about drying hay
