Just curious as to what a 4 row plate planter would bring at an auction? In good condition, with extra plates, insecticide boxes, good fertilizer boxes(granular), and hyd cyl. About 1974 vintage, JD ?, IH ?, Ford 352, White 543 and others.

Just looking for an over all price.
thanks in advance,
Brian

I saw something on that auction in the Grand Rapids Press. I might slide up myself. I'm in the market for a planter for food plots. I'm about 1-1/2 to 2 hours south.

I bought a 4 row JD70 planter for $300. That was about 4 years ago. It is in excellent condition, including the fertilser cans, which the owner told me he had never used. Guy had a small hobby farm, owned the planter from new.

gary is about right on the price. depends on whether you need an older jd such as the 494 or the newer plateless. there is a nice 352 ford which is the same as a 543 white advertised in tenn. for $350.oo. I have one of those and love it. check out model numbers. Some 4 rows are ancient and some are almost new. Just depends on your budget and needs.

If it is the one in the photo ads, that one is actually a 320. I had them e-mail me some more pic's and it is not a 352. I'am looking for a 352 so I can use JD plates and not spend $30 a piece for plates like my 309 uses.
thank you for the reply.
Brian

On consignment auctions most times they are on a sat and the machinery just shows up on fri between 4:00 in afternoon and 8:00 fri night. Never any time to get a listing made.

I haven't seen one yet. Go to uproducers.com and click on Special Sales. It should have a listing before long.

Here in Iowa a 4 row plate planter may bring $150 if it is a real good one.

Plateless 4 row planters are in the $500 range or less, so anyone who wants a 4 row will go for them so they can forget about using plates.

There is a little demand for 2 row planters to plant small plots of sweet corn but most 4 rows are getting cut up for the iron.
