I posted last week on the door not closing all the way on left side. Advice here was to cycle the door all up and down 3 or 4 times. Did that yesterday and and it is still staying open about 1 inch on left side with right side closed. I did notice on the lift cylinders that the one on left side had about 3 inches of shaft showing and right one had about 2.5 showingwhen completely closed down and pulled down with hydraulics. Anybody have ideas?

Just a thought but you might make sure that you don't have a cylinder that is comming apart inside. It could be that the nut on the piston is backing off. Don't know, but I believe that I would check before I hooked a log chain to the gate and tried straightning something that might not be bent. Good luck

Warped gates are common and dealer has instructions on how to straighten!

Also, what caused it to warp? There are directions how to adjust the latches. The latch mechanism acts like a fuse. The latch yields if the operator overfills the baler and monitor is not functioning.

There are no lazy cylinders. If the latch is closing the cylinder(s) are okay.

You straighten a gate by using a log chain and the hydraulics, but you have to know what you are doing!

Sorry, but there are lazy cylinders. I HAD one. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that when the flared sealing surface of the packing seal is completely worn off, you can't hold the pressure you could when the sealing surface was intact....like in my case where the other side was. My lazy cylinder was like that.

Michael I had the same problem last year. It turned out that they rod on the door latch had bent and wouldn't let the door latch close.

OK, Went back and re-read it. I'll try your fix first and see what happens. Can I gamble and just do the lazy side for starters? Like I said, the right side is sucking up good.
Thanks for the polite slap on the forehead. I didn't pay enough attention to you first time.

Yes, It may be all you need. Depends on the amount of wear on the other side. If your problem reverses...other side doesn't want to latch you have your answer....gotta do both.

That is what I am afraid of. I have a JD baler mechanic that I talked to last week and he said he has seen a lot of recked balers but never one with a warped gate. Wander if I could cycle door up and then back down while placing a 4x4 block about 3 or 4 foot long at bottom on right side and comelong the left side to pull it together. Don't know if it would work or not but maybe worth a try? Anybody straightened one?

Heck yeah,

It's no good the way it is. If it is sprung, might as well try to pull 'er back the other way.
