I came across a decent looking M-F small square baler (model 224, I think). It looked to be in very good shape. The plunger mechanism seemed very similar to a New Holland, but the knotters looked completely different than a New Holland. I have no experience with the M-F knotters. They look quite a bit simpler than a New Holland

Anyone with experience with the M-F knotters and balers (e.g., reliability, ease to work on, etc)? Just curious...

I had a nice 124 (same thing, older machine) years ago. I'm a JD man so I was a bit leery of it when I bought it but the price was 1/3 of what they wanted for a JD 336 at the time so I thought I'd try it. It was worth every penny I paid for it - simple knotter, everything worked well. If they were still available today as a new baler I would have one in the shed right now instead of my JD 338.

I had a 124 once and once I got the knotters figured out it worked real good, just low capacity. They do have a completely different knotter then everyone else, leaves a loop at the end of the knot rather then the stripper arm swipping the ends all the way through the loop and cutting them.
