I am trying to change the rollers (wire guide) at the end of the needles. Does anyone know the best way to get them out? Is it a rivet that holds them in? Should I drill it out? Should I take the needles off to do this? I bought this old baler last year and after getting some of the kinks worked out it seems to work fine so I thought I would keep it around a few more years but I wanted to fix it up some. any and all advice is welcomed Thanks
Mark

Can maybe copy the pages that show this as it looks as if you can use a screw with nuts.

According to my book there is a rivet to be drilled out. If you need part numbers let me know.

My book shows two rollers on each needle.
one on the end is the #667 413 R1
has a bushing # 667 414 R1
second one is # 667 412 R1
has bushing # 667 415 R1

also lists rivit # 102 688 (3/16 x 13/16) rivit # 102 689 (1/4 x 13/16)
my book does not show which rivit goes where.

glad you got a 440 that was a good one. mine was a dud from day one. the inside twine was so close to the edge of the bale you had to be very careful handling them. on the eyes i wouldn't remove the needles under any circumstance. your opening up a hold new box of bees if you do. it will take forever to get them right. if you tighten them up any at all only pull each bolt a 1/4 turn or less and then the other one. undo the needles from the drive and move them by hand up where you can get to the easier. you can remove the bolt that holds the knotters in place and swing them up if you need more room. notice where and if any washers are at between the frame and knotters. while they are up there you can measure the location of each needle before you snug the bolts up the holds them on to the u shaped swing bar, if they need tighting at all.
