Can anyone tell me any good or bad about a 520
Oliver square baler? What would it be worth in extra good shape and not weathered?

Used an Oliver T-60, (or was it a 60-T?) for a summer. Hard running, shook the dickens out of the tractor hitch, too short a tongue, and knotters were a real nuisance. Had a kid ride on the back of baler to tie missed knots. One time we were running about 98% knot failures, and changed balls of twine - (same brand and gbatch) went to 98% successful knotting. I sure couldn't do anything to change the knotter performance. Had the option to buy baler cheap, took it back to owner, said "Thanks, but no thanks," and left!

My Dad brought one new in the sixties. We used it on about 10,000 bales a year till the early seventies when he sold out. I thought it worked real good in its time. It was alot better than the Massey baler he traded in on it. We ran it with about 45hp tractor and it would keep the guy on the wagon awful busy, no thrower. I would think in decent running condition it would be worth 500-1000 bucks anyway. Not sure about the availablity of part though.

Hesston took over the design and patents on the Oliver balers,so Agco dealers would be the place to look.

Its almost 40 years old and not heavily collected. They were good balers and if it is in baling condition with good knotters, $600.00 is a top price. Most people selling the older equipment nowdays are second generation without a clue to the worth of what they have, they get mad when a reasonable offer is made.

Thanks for the info. No experience with Oliver and had no idea about the worth. Thanks again.

I use a 620 and 720 and love them. No problems at all....any more than any other knotter anyway.
Get a book and pay attention to the set up specs.
