can anyone tell me how to make the twine wrap tighted on a new holland 853 baler? The baled is in good shale, bales fine but the string just wraps to loose. Any help would be greatly appreaciated. I had the local dealer to come out and all they did was scratch their head!!

Water down for the most part. I do still have a lot of puddles all over the place. Creek ate a lot of my land this time but I have conservation started on helping me work on it

As Allan says. The more drag you have on the twine the tighter it will be on the bale. BTDT on my 850NH and after a little playing with the drag that the twine goes through I have it so the twine almost cuts into the bales. But that can cause a problem if the twine has a weak spot also BTDT

thanks allan, I've tried the springs, If I don't leave them as loose as agoose, it won't start on the bale, and your right about this dealer, they did nothing and charged me $290.00

Is your cutter head adjusted properly? Are both of those "snap springs" in good shape?

If set correctly, it should leave about 8-10" of loose twine hanging out of the end of the tube ready and waiting for the next tie.

The end of that "excess" should remain "clamped" at the cutter head until you begin the next tie.

What I mean is: The cutter head has to be "timed" for it to work properly.

Also, are you starting the tie operation before you stop forward travel? So that the twine feeds into the bale with the windrow to start it moving?

Disclaimer: Don't know which tie system you have.

Make sure the twine is threaded correctly and then tighten the tension on the twine.

Should be just before the twine goes inside the chamber, it goes thru a little plate affair with two inch-long spring-loaded bolts.

Finally, find a new dealer. :>)
