Need a rear tire for old Oliver pull type plow, 12" rim, 3.5 inches wide. Old one is so deteriorated I don"t know if it is just a rib inpliment tire, or if it is tapered design. Anyone with insight on this? Any sources? can I get by with anything that will fit?

ME Miller has those , at least they did. That tire is a tapered one specific to the purpose but any old tire will work. Just a matter of if you want to fix it up to show or just for fun. Should add most of the non original tires for that will have a little higher ride height.

Just checked ME Miller still has that but they are $80.

Thanks, big jt, got the rim off this morning, tire dealer is going to order out a 5.6 x 12 trailer tire and install it. Should get me by for 5 to 10 acres of plowing a year. Mainly want to see how the plow works. Miller Tire has the right plow tire, only $80. (OUCH!).

Plow has a rather long history, father-in-law, here in Michigan, got it in a tractor deal a number of years ago. Don"t think he ever used it. His son took it to Nashville TN, where he used it lightly a few times, then used it for a lawn ornament. My son brought it back here to Michigan this last summer, and we"re patching it up enough to use for a little work. Tires are a fiasco, rotted out and split, but rest of plow is in good shape, if you ignore that there is no paint, only rust! Little ware on shares, shins, moldboards!

You want a 4:80 tire, and old boat trailer tire no longer fit for the road. The Tire you say is ordered is TOO big will not work, will not let back end of plow in ground. The wore out trailer tire will be closer in size than a new one but a correct size of 4:80 will work but not a 5:30 boat trailer tire. Good luck getting it exchanged for one that will work. I have a like new 5:30 that I thought will work but measureing no way.

Hey, thanks, we measured the wheel spacing when we gotback to the farm, and decided that tire is too large, called dealer, and ordered the 4.80. There is link adjustment that should allow us to use a slightly larger tire than was on there origionally. We were concerned that larger tire would rub on casting where the tire arm swivels. Think the smaller tire will work. Unfortunately, there aren't any trailer tires to be had - used.
People run them to death, and then replace, after a catastropic failure on the road!

A neighbor needed a tire for an 3x12 bottom -Oliver plow. I brought him a spare donut tire of similar size -from a car. He drilled holes to match the plow and mounted it. You could hardly tell the difference. The plow worked just fine.
Cost $0.00

Thanks for the donut tire idea. Unfortunately the rear wheel on this plow has a cast disk, and the rim attaches with four bolted clamps. Kind of like a trailer house tire.

The plow the neighbor was repairing had a hub that was a flat cast plate with four bolts through the rim. He opened the center hole to allow for the larger hub and drilled holes as needed to mount the wheel.
