I am thinking of going back to making a few small bales to have on hand for calving time etc. I used to have a John Deere 336 and it worked very well, but I sold it after not using it for a couple of years. Will this Massey baler work well for making about 500 bales a year? It is in good shape, and I am wondering what to offer on price? What seems fair for a clean #12 Massey baler?

Southern Missouri has lots of that baler all over. I just paid $600 for a functioning one that was used last year. A couple of years ago I picked another one up at an auction for $500. I don't think they would go for much more than that. The owner of my local parts store has gotten them out of farm fencelines for basically free and gotten them working and sold them. 500 small bales is really not that much, so if the price is right, why not?

put 5 to 6 thousand a year up with a MF #9, basically same machine, will do the job...around here a decent one would be $1000

Pto or engine drive ? In our neck of the woods they seem to sell for $300.00 to $600.00 in good working order. Parts can be a little spendy as I just priced a needle for one $384.00 My JD is cheaper. HTH

It is a PTO operated baler. Thanks
