Never could find a model number for the planter I have but the seed hoppers, etc. are good. No way to adjust planting rate without disassembling it & putting different sprockets on it. Also, no press wheels (but has wheels mounted between the planter units to drive the boxes).

Found a 246 JD on ebay for cheap that needs the seed hoppers so between the 2 I should be set. I'm picking it up later this week. I had a 246 before & recall it was adjustable by changing sprockets without removing them.

So, what plates do I need for the Reid yellow dent? I'd like to plant around 12-18"; know that's probably wider spacing than most folks use but I'm "trying something." Seed company said they were just graded as "flat seed"; not by size.

BTW anyone have a manual for the 246 planter you'd sell or sell me a copy of (PDF by email would be fine).

Thanks!

Lew near Waco, TX
