My neighbor said he would sell me a Massy #10 baler for scrap price. What years were these made, are they dependable, do they do a good job of baling and how hard are used or new parts to find?

Said it worked when he parked it in the shed 10 years ago. It did a real good job on straw but he couldn't get a nice tight bale like he wanted in hay.

Also what do they weigh?

Thanks for the information. I think this baler will cost me $225 to $250, also said he had the books for it.

Don't think I can go wrong buying it, if I can't get it to work right sell it for salvage.

Great baler.Had one that had over a million bales run through it with very few problems. Finally retired it and bought a NH276.When it broke down pulled tho old #10 out of the shed and baled with it till the NH was fixed(worked on that POS all the time)When we sold out 17 years ago the baler went with the ranch, talked to a former neighbor turns out he bought the old #10 and is still using it with very little trouble.

We have a number 10 and it is a great little baler, hay has to be dry or you have problems, did about 700 small squares of straw last summer and matbe missed three or four out of the lot..just a great baler! I don't know where to find parts, all I ever had to replace were chains that any machinery dealer carries

Hi Dave, I'm glad it wasn't left outside or corrosion would have forced the plunger slides in
and "locked" it up. They were one tremendous baler. More chamber wedges would help with a firm
bale, also heavier windrows. They were built from
1959-65 when the 12 was sold starting in '66. The
baler if PTO weighs 2732 lbs. Lots of old ones in
the upper midwest along fencelines. New parts are
a bit pricey. Chuck
