Hello: I have a chance to buy a JD 4C 2 bottom plow which I have not seen. Does anyone out there have some background info on it such as dates made ect. Thanks Drew s/w WI.

The John Deere 4C plow was first built in 1935 and was supplied until 1949. It was replaced by the Number 44 in 1945 but continued to be built through 1949. The 4C is basically the same as the more common 4B but is a specialized version for plowing cane and trashy fields. It was equipped with a drum type furrow wheel to help reduce plugging. It came with a rear wheel which was larger in diameter than the rolling landside of the 4B, and the 4C usually had trash wires which attached to the front cross brace and helped hold trash down to allow it to be covered by the plow. The 4C is rather rare in this part of Michigan I don't know about other parts of the country. Hope this helps you. Bob
