Hello, so I got a 276 vintage baler for my 8 acres of alfalfa, orchardgrass, I am having the local baler guru, come and service it. Any thoughts on which twine or cordage to use? thanks for your time;

get 9000 sisal from local New Holland dealer. It costs a bit more than twine from TSC and other outlets but why skimp on such a critical item.

I find with the older, fussy balers that if you use 7200 or 9600 plastic it cures alot of knotter problems. Seems the 9000 is getting thinner and old knotters need a bit more to work with.

I agree with all these posts about 9000. My 273 doesn"t like anything else.

Anyone else notice how twine now days varies in thickness so much? Was not like that 10 years ago. I see it in all brands.

I've noticed the same thing. Usually buy thru TSC, but have other brands that were not uniform too. What happened to quality control?

I've baled with a NH276 for about 5 years. Make 5000 to 7000 bales of grass hay every year. Had a knotter problem on one side and a well known guy on this forum "Steve from New Holland" suggested that I try the cheapest brown 9000 twine I could buy. Worked like a charm, reduced knotter problems by 98%. Bales hold up well. Suggest you try the 9000 twine sold by Tractor Supply. Edd
PS: suggest you do not use poly. Darn stuff lasts forever. Causes lots of injuries to livestock when accidently left in a field or stall.

We use 9,000 sisal on our 268 Hayliner with good results. That's what it was origionally designed for. Anything else may not function well, or may require major adjustment to work well.
