chevy grain truck value

Neighbor wants to buy my truck, not sure what its worth. what do you guys think? 1979 c70 chevy, 454, 600 bushel steel box and hoist, twin screw. I would say it average condition- some rust on truck, box good. And an Eaton transmission. What would it bring in your area? thanks.

You are high for around here. Again, size matters and diesel too. I know diesel fuel is out of sight, but so is it's ability over gas to move the load down the road.

Around here in Michigan gas grain trucks are not bringing anything. This is from an auction on Feb 23rd. The truck was in decent shape, not great, and I didn't spend a whole lot of time looking at it.

Also 2x4 is right. If that is an original engine, or original type tall deck big block it should be either a 366 or 427. A 454 is a light duty truck/car engine, but will drop in there.

I would have to agree with 2x4 on the price. $4000-$5000 in western SD. If it was a diesel, it would double the price.

$4-5000. Sure thats not a 366 in there? Wouldn't be a 454 unless someone dropped it in there.

Central, SW MN- single axle with 350 bu box, that vintage, $1500-3000. Tandem with 500 bu box, maybe 5 grand. They are 30 years old. Stretched road tractor with diesel engine- that can run more.

Trucks in my neck of the woods dont bring squat. I've seen some pretty decent trucks sell below $1,500 around here, though sadly, it seems real farming is on its way out, as everyone with 5 acres and a horse and few dogs think they have a ranch. Guess I'll get off my soapbox now.

Boy, I dunno.

I've been hearing that for years, but nobody can ever produce the goods. Worst truck I ever laid eyes on and the guy still wanted $3K for it.

A good decent tandem will bring $8K-$13K here. Saw a straight C-65 with a combination box sell for $10K two years ago.

Gave $6500 for mine with 2 hoists over in Denver a couple of years ago and had to put the tarp on myself.
