looking to buy a newer baler to replace our 605C Vermeer. I put up 200-250 round bales a year for my cows. Thinking about a 605H, I see alot of 5580 Hesstons, 530-535 Deere is more than I want to spend ($2000-$3000) I don't usually sell so bale weight of alfalfa/grass in the 1200# range is ok, I just want a solid core that will weather good for the bales that won't fit inside. I am not interested in a NH chain beater! Any input appreciated.

Had a 5580 and now a 530. Will take the 530 hands down over the 5580. Gave $5000 for my 530 about 3 years ago and was tickled to get it as it was in great shape with no belts needing replacement. Considering I sold the 5580 for $3000 the upgrade was definitely worth the money.

I have a 605 H and love it. Big tough machine that makes nice round tight bales. Also you can change the belt roller bearings from the outside. My NH 630 was a real pain when a bearing went out. And they did all the time. A good one in our area will run about $3000 to $4000. PK

I got a 535 with net wrap on it for 5600 2 years ago on a sale. I really like it except the fact that its all metric. Had to put a another tool box on the tractor for that. I had a Vermeer F before that, it was a good baler, just wore the pickup out. The H is the same as an F except it has one more tension spring on each side so it will make a little heavier bale. If you move up to a J vermeer its a little more complicated baler, but it will eat a lot bigger windrow like the 535. Lee

The 605H has a 6 bar pickup plus over kill in the lower drive bearings. A 605F looks the same but a Vermeer H baler is made heavier in every spot. Each of those balers bale a rock hard bale. They will take more HP than the C series baler.
