Gresen Loader valve

I have a Gresen V15-264 valve on a Bush Hog loader on a '73 4000SU Ford. I have the loader plugged into the hydraulic remotes.
I have the open-center plug in the valve. The issue is the valve is "hissing".
If the valve is open-centered, why is the fluid going over the relief, ie. "hissing"? Shouldn't it free flow until I engage one of the spools?
I'm worried that overtime this will hurt my tractor hydraulic pump.
What am I missing?

isnt the stock Ford remote a closed center??? i've always plumbed in a Tee in feed line and run a seperate return line to sump.

If i understand you, you need the plug out to be open centered. Sure wouldn't want it to be poping off the relief all the time.

I wasn"t very clear. I have purchased an open center valve plug. I thought that was my issue. But the plug I purchased was the same as the one I replaced (a short, flat plug that doesn"t protrude into the valve body). So why am I still popping off the relief?
Help?????
