Im lookin at a Massey 12 baler to go along with my AC Roto baler. The model 12 has been stored inside and was never used very much. We run all AC and have never been around a Massey baler.Are they good balers? What is the best twine to use and the best Pto speed? I will be baling with a WD-45. Any other info would be great! Thanks

Ran a MF #10 and aMF#12 for years,both of'em were good balers.Very few problems.

My father was a Massey dealer many years ago and he sold dozens of those old balers. They were workhorses and would do a good job. Do store it inside. The plunger is on slides, not bearings, so if it sets out in the rain the plunger will get rusty and get stuck and it can be a real job to get the plunger unstuck. I seem to recall that it did not have zerk fitting on the knotters, seems like most people added grease fittings? If it is in decent shape it will do a good job for you. A MF12 and and MF 124 are significantly different. If you do a search of the archives on this forum there are many past questions about the MF12 baler.

We ran a 124 for years,as far as I can guess,the 12 was likely fairly similar to the 124.If you use plastic,use 9000 ft rolls,cuts off nice and easier on the hands.Run it about 540 pto.

I have a massey 12 havent baled with it before. Plan to start usin it next summer. Sisal twine is what has been run through my baler before i got it and a neighbor had a 12 that ran well. Keep it in time and keep the knotters sharp and you should be fine. Where are you in Ky. I am also in Ky.
