IHC/JD baler modification

I like junk, it's what I can afford. Well I've got an IHC 440 baler in pretty good shape, but I hate the knotters (I've asked about them here last year). I also have an old JD 24T baler thats very rough but knots like a dream! I love it for that reason alone. Does anyone know if I could swap over the knotters?

thanks for the comments. I have been looking for another set of knotters for the IHC and will see what developes. that would be the best way to go. And yup, why don't I just rebuild that JD!? I have parts machines for both ( knotters on the IH mach.s are not the same style). My biggest concern about the swap was the needle lengh and angle of engagement.

Many brands of balers use the same knotters. A little research might yield your answers. A good dealer parts man would be a great resource.

Anything is possible with a torch and a welder but what is wrong with the 24t that it can't be fixed up?

i wouldn't think that is possible, but you could try exchanging your knotters for some off of a 46, 47, 420, 430 or another 440 baler. do a serach here on knotters. several of us gave out some catalog numbers for the repair manula for the knotters on 400 series balers. get you one of them. i never did figure out on my 440 why one side tied closer to the edge of the bale than the other side. you actualy had to be careful how you picked the bales up.
