Just wondering if a 4250 (3000 hrs 4wd, weighted) will handle a 956 mower on hilly ground or am I asking too much of it? I am kinda leaning towards the 946 instead, because of extensive road travel. Do they make a tow behind cart for a 13 ft mower? Thanks in advance

A very sure yes, its only a 14.6 foot machine, 100hp would pull it. Deere recommends 100-150 PTO hp. You could ditch the weights and still have plenty of tractor.

Ditching the weights is a poor idea, those mowers will toss a tractor around pretty good. A 4250 is a good match for a 946 in hilly ground running at or near 8 mph. A 7410 (105pto hp) runs completely out of steam in identical conditions. In fact, the 7410 I ran would not maintain 8 mph on any significant uphill grade.
