I am looking for a wagon hitch for my 273 and am having a bit of a time finding one. I was going to try and make one but would prefer this to be the last option.

Also, my feeder teeth which feed the hay into the bale chamber throws springs all time. There are three sets, the front two (closest to the chamber) appear to only accomidate one spring. This seems apparent since this is only one small tiny hole in the bracket behind the pivot point for the spring end. The last set has two holes and was wondering if for some reason this should have two springs. The owners manual does not show this in great enough detail to determine what the correct setup should be.

Any help??

I have a 273. you need the springs to spring back feeders if not they will rideon top of hay or itleast they did for me. I put up alf. The springs I get at my local hardware store. Buy one about the same spring and cut to match the ones on the baler. cheeper and work well. Also if you bend the ends tighter they stay in better but not as easy to install.

when you say wagon hitch I assume you mean the telescoping pipe with the hitch hole in the flat end. If so, I have one from a NH275 which is probably the same as a 273. I am in east central OH and could probably sell it.

Where exactly are you located and what would you take for the hitch? I am located approx 30 mi south of Marietta.

Those springs went on our 273 also. Replaced a few of them, but they didn't like to last. Haven't bothered in over a decade or more by now. We don't have the heaviest hay, but havn't had a feed problem at all. Mike

I built a hitch for mine from scrap metal I had around here. Looked at a friends factory hitch & copied the mounting locations. Not too complicated.

I luckily found a hitch for mine a short distance away. You might want to try All States Ag Parts. They seem to have a good selection of used parts. You can get the hitch new from New Holland but I think it will run you $350. The 268,269,275,278, and 310 I believe have the same hitch. As far as the feeder tine springs, that could be a # of problems. Installed wrong or worn out parts. Send me an email and I"ll try to take a picture of the feeder carriage on my baler so you can see how it"s supposed to be set up.

Where are you located? Stamm Equipment in Wayland Michigan scraps a lot of balers. Quite possibly would have a hitch.
