Do any of the individuals out here in Cyber Hay-Land operate a Kuhns Small Ball Accumlator??? We are looking at increasing our annual volume and their system seems to be one that makes sence for our hay operation. We have seen the DVD and read their information but what about real life uasge and experiences? Is there anyone that currently operates or has operated one? Thanks all...

Keith,
Just wondering why bales coming out of storage that were stored on edge vs. flat are way better??? By the way that is some excellant looking hay you're working with. Gets me in the mood for summer, mosquitoes, sweatin, and fightin rain drops, and makin hay.

Bales on edge after storage hold a real square look and are much more even. We have had both type storage and I much prefer edge with cut side up.

I"ve got 2 seasons on mine with over 25,000 bales thru mine and love it. Kenny Kuhns and family are great to deal with. If I had it to do over I would get the new 18 bale model. I personally would never get one that stack bales flat, go with the on edge. The bales come out of storage looking way better.

Jim,
I just thought that with strings up there was no chance of bales falling over in the grab. Kinda like stacking 2x4's on edge, some of them are just gonna fall over.

7812:

Can you explain why you went with the strings up rather than strings on side?

I am looking at getting a Kuhns Accumulator for our operation and am trying to decide between the 10 and 15 bale system.

Jim

Jim get the 15 bale model and make your bales 32 to 34 inches. If you make a tight bale they still weigh plenty. You capacity with a 10 versus 15 is so much higher and they stack better. They fit on 102" wide trailer perfectly, myself I would like the 18 bale model its just one row wider.

After running accumulator for years I have learned this. The grapple takes practice and doing the 3 deep bundles is tougher than the two deep bundles and you better have big loader with biggest option cylinders on the roll back of your bucket. You have alot of leverage out front on the three deep units. if I were trading or buying again I would want unit that does twelve on edge. These bundles fit right inside of 53ft van trailers. I do prefer them on edge that what I have ran for years but flat would be fine just have to watch the strings more when you grab. As far as them falling over once in while but the flat do to. It all depends on how goood you get with the grapple. Skidsteer versus tracto also is big difference. I have grapple on tractor loader and one on skidsteer. PS I have found thou that on edge they actually stay better and don't slide around as much, makes sense since you are stacking rough edges together. I wondered about edge stacking also when I first got my unit but would never go back to flat now thou. Just works for me. grapples allow you to do both anyway so try it 8flat or ten on edge

I bought one last year for the 2007 hay season. Very very well built. Simple to operate. Just drop in a hitch pin, no hydraulics. The Kuhns family was always ready to help with any questions and we handled any small troubles over the phone. The grabber worked excellant and is also very heavily built. Mine is 12 bales strings up. I would buy mine over again in a heartbeat!!!!! It worked just like the video showed.
